Welcome to Music at Rocky Fork Elementary! I am so excited to make music with you!
Meet the Teacher!
Hello! My name is Ms. Shauna Mason and I am incredibly excited to be one of your music teachers! This is my 6th year teaching music, and my 4th here at RFE!
My family is very important to me, which is made of my parents, my younger sister, Autumn, my two dogs, and my flock of chickens!
I graduated with a Bachelors of Music in Instrumental/ General (K-12) Music Education from MTSU in May of 2020, with plans of expanding my education further. I am a classically trained clarinetist of 16 years, and I play in a local community wind band. I have performance experience with Bb soprano and bass clarinet, euphonium, baritone, trumpet, and alto and tenor saxophones. In addition to my experiences with instrumental music, I also enjoy singing and have performed in various choruses and help lead my church's worship and sound production teams.
When I am not teaching or making music, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, cooking, reading, traveling, and experiencing new things!

Expectations
I teach the Tennessee State Music Standards while allowing students the space to be Tuneful, Beatful, and Artful in their musicianship. Individuality brings creation to life and scholars are encouraged to bring their own experiences to the music room.
You will have either Mr. Pope or myself for music at any point this year. Mr. Pope and I work closely together on all lessons throughout the year so that consistency is present and that all of our scholars receive the most out of their music education.

Thunder Musicians
I help co-lead our after school music performing group. This group, Thunder Musicians, is compromised of 4th and 5th grade scholars who wish to make music with a group of their peers and grow their own musical skills. We have various performances throughout the year. Rehearsals are every week on Wednesdays after school until 3:45 pm. Applications for Thunder Musicians will open in August, and rehearsals will begin in September.
Members, check out the Thunder Musicians Resource Padlet (available on my links or my Clever page) for practice resources and music for upcoming performances!
